Fishing Report 05 May 2009

Glenmore Trail - Policeman's Flats

A lone pelican kept pace on the water ahead of the canoe until he let me
pass just upstream of Fish Creek. The fishing was decent in the morning
with two browns hooking up in the first half hour with a SJW and prince's
nymph but then the forecast high winds arrived and I was blown up, down
and side to side with the changing directions. The odd green mayfly was
seen and blankets of midges were about, covering stretches of water and
on the underside of any wet rock. Some fish were feeding on them too,
with some rising fish eating them for a half hour about ten in the AM. Water
clarity was 2-3 foot and Fish Creek put in a little dirty. One heck of an early
spring workout it was, working mostly against the wind and had to have an
evening siesta upon my return home contentedly exhausted. Dreaming, too
I'd bet, of that fifteen pounder I've heard of but have yet to catch. It is out
there still.

On the river 9 AM - 4 PM.
